Midnight Poison

dior-midnight-poisonMidnight Poison by Christian Dior is the fifth fragrance in the popular Poison series. There is the ever popular Poison (1985), Tendre Poison (1994), Hypnotic Poison (1998) and Pure Poison (2004). With Midnight Poison, perfumers Oliver Cresp and Jacques Cavallier go for a scent that has notes such as patchouli, bergamot, mandarin orange, amber, black rose and vanilla.

Popular actress, Eva Green (face of Midnight Poison) has stated that she is not fond of fragrances that are considered to be “old lady” scents.  She however stated that with this Poison, it is geared towards a much younger and hipper audience.

Midnight Poison is a fragrance whose overall scent is determined by patchouli, amber and rose. The patchouli is the first thing that will be noticed, it will also last throughout the life of the fragrance. Once the patchouli subsides, we are then introduced subtly sweet and juicy citrus smell, this is combined with a pleasant floral odor that is commanded by the black rose. Once the base note comes around, the scent of amber as well as woods are brought forth. In the dry down there is still some semblance of fruits but it is very light. Overall the fragrance has a spicy yet powdery scent is very sexy.

Dior’s Midnight Poison comes across as being very mysterious, intense and dark, however what is delivered is something that is very light. It still is able to provide the woman with the sultriness, but it isn’t overbearing.

Christian Dior Midnight Poison is a long last fragrance that can be worn in the daytime, but it is best suited for the night. The fragrance will last a long time and there is no need for constant touching up. Midnight Poison is a much younger fragrance to the original Poision, it not as exotic as Hypnotic or has that overall green freshness that Tendre has. It is somewhat like Pure, but with a difference. It is simple, but has a unique elegance to it.
